A second suspect has been charged in the disappearance and possible homicide of 44-year-old Dante Peter Gilman.

A second suspect has been charged in the disappearance and possible homicide of 44-year-old Dante Peter Gilman.

At 2:05 p.m. Saturday, police charged 19-year-old Kawena K. Krause of Kurtistown with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, second-degree theft and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Krause’s cousin, 30-year-old Claude Keone Krause, was charged earlier in the day with the same offenses, plus two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Gilman, of Hawaiian Acres, was reported missing on Jan. 10. Police said that he was last seen in Hawaiian Acres “on or about Dec. 30.”

Police say they have evidence that Gilman was murdered, but have not said publicly what that evidence is.

“We’re continuing to look for his body,” Lt. Greg Esteban of the Criminal Investigations Section said on Sunday.

Both Krauses are being held without bail at the Hilo police cellblock pending their initial court appearances on Tuesday.
